Gaming PC Guide

Build your PC

Got your parts? Follow these steps to put the PC together. Check the manuals for your case, motherboard, and other parts as you go.

Before you start

Use a clean, flat surface, and keep the PC unplugged. Hold parts by their edges, and don't force a part or plug into place.

  1. Get the case and workspace ready

Grab screwdriver, could be philips and the part manuals. Take off both case side panels and check that the motherboard standoffs are in the right spots.

  2. Put in the processor and memory

Set the motherboard on its box. Open the CPU socket, line up the processor's marked corner, and lower it gently into place. Put the RAM in the slots shown in the motherboard manual.

  3. Add storage and the cooler

Follow the instructions to fit an M.2 drive or other storage. Attach the CPU cooler; add thermal paste only if it isn't already on, then plug the fan into the CPU_FAN spot.

  4. Fit the motherboard in the case

Slowly lower the motherboard onto the case, line up the ports, and secure it with the supplied screws. Tighten them until snug, but don't overtighten.

  5. Add the power supply and graphics card

Secure the power supply in its place in the case. Fit the graphics card into the right PCIe slot and secure it to the case. Use only the cables that came with your power supply.

  6. Plug in cables and check your work

Use the manuals to connect the motherboard, CPU, graphics card, storage, case switches, and fans. Make sure each plug is fully in and no cables can touch a fan.
